A rash can be treated in several ways. The simplest would be by applying olive oil to the affected area. This provides instant relief and also helps in the renewal of the skin. Natural aloe vera – extracted juice from an aloe vera leaf, or aloe vera gel would also have a soothing effect. Aloe vera contains Vitamin E, which is a good anti-oxidant for the skin. Another effective way would be to apply baking powder gently on the rash affected part. This dries your skin in no time and also heals the rash faster. Having an oatmeal bath also relives the irritation, redness or the swelling, which generally happens with rashes. You have to pour just one cup of oatmeal into the bathwater and soak in it for an hour for maximum results. Washing the area with a mixture of lemon juice and rose water or applying a paste of sandalwood with a few drops of lemon juice will keep the skin moisturized and would help in treating the rash effectively. Another useful remedy for healing body rash would be to wash the area with chamomile tea. You have to take a cup of boiling water and add 2-3 tsp of fresh or dried chamomile flowers to it, then strain the decoction and cool it down. Applying a mixture of 10-15 basil leaves, 2 garlic cloves, 1tbsp of olive oil, salt and pepper would also help in healing the rash.
You should also include a lot of vegetables and fruits in your diet. Fruits that are rich in vitamin C, like lime and oranges, should be eaten regularly. The antioxidant properties present in these fruits help fight body rashes.
The treatment for skin rashes generally begins with personal cleanliness and hygiene. It is very important to wash and clean the affected area regularly with a mild body cleanser. The water used for cleansing should be warm and not hot. The skin should be thoroughly dried with a clean towel. Avoid scratching the affected area, instead, take a piece of cotton cloth or a cotton ball, dip it in calcium water or comfrey, and gently rub it on the affected skin area. This would facilitate a calm feeling and help in reducing the itchiness. Refrain from using deodorants, cosmetic, ointments or lotions on the rash. Also, avoid exposing it to direct sunlight but ensure that the affected area is exposed to enough air. Keep the surrounding area clean so that your skin does not come in contact with any irritants or allergens.
